Pro-resident voting record on data center bills

Sided with residents on 100% of votes across 11 data center bills.

Where they stand on data centers

On concerns about hyperscale data centers

Concerns from my constituents as well as from across SD regarding data centers: Potential increase in electric bills, potential increase in water bills, lower water pressure, our water resources are limited already, sediment and water pollution, noise from the centers, interruption or extinction of wildlife in the local areas, migration of wildlife patterns being interrupted, very few jobs for South Dakotans after the construction is done, and many have said the data centers are old technology when we have technology that can match it and beat it and it takes up smaller space then a bedroom.

How they’d address those concerns

I supported legislation to give the public data center bill of rights. I would continue supporting legislation to protect SD based on what constituents ask for. I also have heard many people across SD say these multi million dollar and billion dollar companies don’t need SD tax exemptions.
