Pro-resident voting record on data center bills

Sided with residents on 100% of votes across 11 data center bills.

Where they stand on data centers

On concerns about hyperscale data centers

There is a wide range of concern on this topic. Energy consumption required to run these complexes is monstrous. Higher energy rates being passed to consumers, the depletion of our natural resources to generate the power, and building up the infrastructure to even support it is one concern. The land that is used to build these comes with concerns as well. Would they be granted eminent domain authority Are they going to take more agricultural land out of production? Are there health concerns that come with these being by neighborhoods? All of This along with the big question of what Data are they storing to need so many new hyperscale data centers.

How they’d address those concerns

I co-Sponsored SB135 to address some of the resource and cost concerns. I think we need more guardrails on water and electrical usage to ensure our residents aren't negatively impacted. We need to strengthen our eminent domain laws to ensure private companies cannot exercise that authority. There should not be NDAs signed, all happenings between government entities and these companies need to be open and transparent.
