Where they stand on data centers
On concerns about hyperscale data centers
Wow, that's a long list. The community doesn't feel like the city is being transparent or that they are being heard, high water usage, high electricity usage and rates increased, job loss, data centers do not employ very many people, will the equipment be made in China, will data centers have to pay their taxes, EMF radiation, the 24/7 humming sound, light pollution, decrease in housing when construction happens, use of out of state companies, who is the end user, what will it be used for, decrease of property values
How they’d address those concerns
I will continue addressing concerns like I have been. Back in January, myself and Amanda formed Let Sioux Falls Vote and I was the Chairperson. We spear-headed the data center petition drive, there was over 100 circulators getting signatures. Sioux Falls doesn't need hyperscale data center, the community doesn't want one. When I am elected in June 2026, anything that comes on agenda about the hyperscale data center, I will be opposing it. City council needs to listen to the community.
Note
Helped lead the petitioning efforts with Let Sioux Falls Vote and South Dakota Data Center Transparency to take the data center property rezoning to a public vote.
